Dun an Ri College, Open Night:
On Tuesday evening of last week there was a large attendance of parents and children, in Kingscourt Community Centre. The attendance included officials from Cavan -Monaghan ETB, including Mr. Martin O’Brien CEO and Cllr. Clifford Kelly. The CEO Mr. Martin O’Brien, outlined the ongoing work involved , with projected video display of the New College and its buildings. This was followed with a questions and answers session from many members of the large attendance, on the workings of the new college, which were answered by the CEO ,Mr. Martin O’Brien. Coin Collection ;
Next weekend, there will be a collection taken up of 1 & 2 cent coins which are being withdrawn from circulation by the Central Bank, the collection will be taken up at all parish Masses next weekend and will be used by the Parish Restoration Fund, this is an opportunity for everyone to get rid of the coins which are no longer in use.
The Late Ann Johnston ;
There was genuine regret and sadness in the area, at the death of Ann Johnston (nee Ward) suddenly at her residence Rock’s Road, Kingscourt, on Friday 6 th. November. Predeceased by her husband, Pat, daughter, Annie, brothers, sisters and parents. The deceased who was in her 70 th. year was a former employee of Gypsum Industries for many years in the Office canteen. In the 1980’s, she was actively involved with the late Arthur McGinley and others in the running of Kingscourt Athletic Club . She was later to join the Ladies Golf Club in Cabra Castle, where she was an active committee member. An interest in gardening, which was always well maintained. She was regular attending the local Bingo.
Deeply regretted by her loving daughter Karen, son-in-law Derek, grandchildren, Sophie, Lili, Harry & Charlie. Sadly missed by her brothers, Philip and Kevin, sisters , Mena , Ben, Dympna and Elizabeth. nephews, nieces, relatives and many friends. Reposing at her residence with removal on Saturday 7 th. Nov. to the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Kingscourt. There was a large and representative attendance at the Requiem concelebrated funeral Mass On Sunday 8 th. Nov. with burial in the adjoining cemetery, the celebrants were Rev. Fr. Mark English, Kingscourt, adm and Rev.Fr. Michael Meade P.P. Summerhill. Sacred music was reverently sung by the Church Folk Choir, she will be sadly missed from the community.

Adult Literacy Volunteers ;
Volunteers needed in the Kingscourt area to work with Adult Literacy learners. Training will take place on a Monday and Wednesday morning, from 10.am to 1 pm, in the Kilmore Hotel, Cavan starting Monday 16 th. November and finishing on Wednesday 9 th. December 2015.
