Harvest Thanksgiving Service ;
Ervey Presbyterian Church , Harvest Thanksgiving service on Sunday 13 th. October at 3.30.pm, refreshments afterwards in church hall, everyone welcome.
Harvest Mass ;
The annual “ Harvest Mass” in thanksgiving for the fruits of the earth, will take place on Sunday 13 th. at 12 Noon, in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Kingscourt.
Bereaved ;
Sympathy is extended to Michael Sheenan, Enniskeen, on the death of his brother, Mr. Barney Sheenan, which occurred in London. A former employee of Gypsum Industries , where he worked in the plaster mill.
Reserved Parking ;
Cavan County Council have a reserved parking space for traders on the towns main street, from 9.00.am to 6.00.pm on Thursdays and Fridays of each week. Recently a regular trader was unable to take up a space in the designated area , because of cars parked in the area.
German Students Visit;

During the past week a group of 30 German students from the AUE School, Nuester, Frankfurt, Germany, had an enjoyable stay with host families in the Kingscourt area. They were accompanied by their teachers , Sydlle, Lorenz , Bollig & Rolf and Sandra Carolan, a native of Kingscourt, now living in Germany since 1984, who organised the visit. A varied itinerary was organised for their visit which included educational trips, a visit to the Titanic Museum , visit to Dun-An-Ri, forest park , Cabra Castle , a Gaelic football match and an evening of traditional music and dance which was organised by local people . On Sunday they spent some time in Dublin, exploring the highlights of the capital city , before returning to Germany. Sandra has expressed her thanks for the support of the host families and people in the community .
The Late Declan Rooney ;
The death occurred suddenly, on Sunday 29th. September of Mr. Declan Rooney at his residence , Kilnalun, Kingscourt, Co. Cavan. His sudden death came as a great shock to his family and all in the community. The deceased who was in his early thirties , was an employee of Cooper Insulation, a friendly and likeable person who was always in good form, with a greeting for everyone. Reposing at his home on Tuesday 1 st. Oct. With removal on Wednesday 2nd. Oct. to the Church of the Immaculate Conception for Requiem concelebrated funeral Mass (the celebrants were Very Rev. Fr. Gerry McCormack, P.P. Kingscourt, Canon John Murphy, P.P. Baileborough and Rev, Fr. Michael Router ) with burial in the adjoining cemetery. The large attendance who called to his house to sympathise and the very large attendance at his funeral was testament of the esteem in which he was held . He was predeceased by his father ; Tom and is survived by his heartbroken wife; Sarah, children ; Declan and Ella –May, brothers ; Tom ,Peter , Paul ,and Damien, sisters ; Therese and Marie , mother ; Josephine, brothers-in-law, sisters –in-law, mother-in-law ; Geraldine, father –in-law; Michael and a large family circle to whom heart felt sympathy is extended.

Kingscourt Community Centre, snooker room is open 5 nights each week, 14 to 18 yrs. 6.00.pm to 8.00.pm, over 18 yrs from 8.00.pm to 11.00pm
