Marriage ;
Congratulations to Mr. James Muldoon and Ms. Ann Marie Mooney, also Ms. Shauneen Hale and Mr. Christopher O’Kane, on their recent marriages. Couples intending marriage in the Diocese of Meath, must complete an ACCORD pre marriage workshop.
Baptism ;
The Parish Community welcomes recently baptised , Ronan Gerard Finnegan. All baptisms take place on the 2nd and 4 th. Saturday of each month at 4.00.pm in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Kingscourt .
Bereaved ;
Sympathy is extended to Claire Tinnelly, Corglass, Kingscourt, on the death of her mother, Mrs. Katherine (Kitty) Crosbie, (nee Curran) Coghaistown and Wikinstown, Navan who died on 25 th. July, peacefully at her residence. Predeceased by her husband James; sadly missed by her, sons; daughters;, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sons-in-law, daughters-ib-law, sisters-in -law , relatives and friends, Requiem funeral mass on Monday 28 th. July in the Church of St. Louis and St. Mary’s, Rathkenny, with burial in the adjoining cemetery .
Cemetery Sunday ;
The annual Blessing of the graves was held on Sunday last, which commenced with 12 Noon Mass, con celebrated in the cemetery, the celebrants were Rev. Fr. Gerry McCormack, P.P. Kingscourt, Rev. Fr. Joseph O’Reilly and Rev. Fr. Phonsie Mackin . Sacred Music was sung reverently by members of the Folk Choir, who were accompanied by Gavin O’Reilly. The ceremonies were relayed by , P.A system throughout the cemetery. Despite the wet conditions prevailing , there was a very large attendance present, which included many family members from outside the area .
Annual Fair of Muff ;
The annual pattern Fair of Muff, which dates back for several hundred years will be held on Tuesday next 12 th. August. There has been a revival in recent years and the fair attracts many horse dealers from all over Ireland, and there is usually a large selection of horses ,pony’s, donkeys, etc. and the usual large selection of stalls, with everything from an needle to an anchor for sale. There will be the usual dancing deck at the rock of Muff with music by the resident orchestra, with prizes for best dancers and singers, there will be competition for skittles and many other side shows.
