Cancer Fund ,Thanks ;
Kingscourt ,Cancer Fund would like to sincerely thank, Maura McKenna who raised € 4680, from a recent head shave and raffle. Kingscourt cancer fund shop, is open on Thursday and Friday from 10.00am to 6.00.pm and on Saturday from 10.00am to 4.00.pm and is located in Church Street, well worth a visit .
Kingscourt Craft &Trade Fair ;
This years, Kingscourt Craft & Trade Fair will be held on W/E 23 rd. 24 th. November in Kingscourt Community Centre. Following on the successful trade fairs of the past years, the Kingscourt trade fair, has been acknowledged as a popular venue and attracts both exhibitors and patrons from the surrounding counties . Organized each year by Kingscourt Community Development Association, who have already received bookings for stands at this years craft and trade fair. Inquiries from the secretary at 042 9668355 .
Regretted Death ;
The death occurred of Mr. Paddy McGee, (Tavis) Kilmainhamwood, Co. Meath, (peacefully) at Our Lady’s Hospital, Navan, on Wednesday 25 th. September ,surrounded by his family. Sadly missed by his loving wife, Molly, sons ;Paul, Peter , Raymond, daughters; Angela ,Mary and Sylvia, son-in-law, daughters –in-law, grandchildren, sisters ; Esther , Jane , and Gretta, brothers –in-law, nieces, nephews relatives, neighbors and friends, to whom sympathy is extended. There was a large and representative attendance at the removal to the Church of the Sacred Heart, Kilmainhamwood on Thursday evening 26 th. Sept. and at the Requiem funeral Mass on Friday, with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. The celebrant was Rev. Fr. John Cooney, P.P., K/wood, with soloist Bernard Kieran and the church choir rendering sacred music reverently,(He was a former members of the church choir in K/wood) A retired employee of Gypsum Industries, where he worked in the board plant for many years as a production line foreman ,in his younger years he also played hurling , with a team in Kingscourt.
Street Improvements ;
During the past week contractors for Cavan County Council carried out major resurfacing work on the towns main street, they also removed the towns three raised roundabouts, they will be replaced by low level roundabouts, which will make it easer to navigate , especially for large vehicles ,it is also intended to create a new low level roundabout at the Rocks Road / main street junction. Road improvements are also to be undertaking on the Bailieboro road junction, and the provision of a new pedestrian footpath on the Bailieboro road to nearby housing estate. These improvements are to be welcomed by motorists and residents as much needed improvements to the town and hopefully will be followed with further improvements in other areas of the town.
Baptisms ;
The Parish community welcomes recently baptized , Sarah Jennifer Reilly, Caela Rose Cassidy and Lexie Nicole McKenna . All baptisms take place on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month at 4.00.pm in the Church of the Immaculate Conception Kingscourt.
Apostolic Society, Thanks;
Sincere thanks to all who supported the recently held collection in aid of the Apostolic Society, which raised €1420.
Indoor Bowls ;
Indoor bowls have started in Meath Hill , Community centre on Monday nights at 8.00.pm. Art Classes have also started on Thursday in Meath Hill, centre ph. 087 6365342.
Oil Painting Classes ;
Oil painting classes will commence on Tuesday 8 th. October in the Matt Talbot Hall from 11.00 am to 1.00.pm, Beginners welcome .
Harvest Mass ;
The annual Harvest Mass will be held at 12 Noon on Sunday 13 th. October in the Church of the Immaculate Conception.
Mission Display ;
The annual Apostolic Mission Display and Mission Awareness, will be held on W/E 19 th./20 th Oct. in the Church of the Immaculate Conception.
