IMELDA  MAY- WIG WEEK;

Staff members of Kingscourt Credit Union,  have had an  IMELDA MAY  wig week in Kingscourt Credit Union, from 21 st. to 26 th. July, where all the staff wore Imelda May wigs at work for the week in order to raise funds for Aware.

People can donate online at  mycharity.ie  or in the Credit Union office until  2 nd. August 2014

Commemorative  Plaque ;

Dun  a  Ri House Hotel & the McMahon family on Monday the 4 th. August  at 4.00.pm will be unveiling a  Commemorative Plaque for Eilis  (Farrelly) Boland, as part of their 20 th. Anniversary Celebrations. Eilis Farrelly (Boland ) the composer of  the famous song;” Doonaree” which was sung  by many established singers, Ruby Murray, Vera Lynn, and Nita Norry, to mention a few, it was first sung in public by  a local person from Kingscourt, Mr. Matt Donagh.  It will be 60 yrs since it first became a huge hit around the world. Eilis Farrelly (Boland) was also the composer of “Ballyhoe” which has been recorded by many Show Band singers and Dance Bands. Member’s of Eilis’s  family will be in attendance for an afternoon of memories, all welcome to attend.

Cemetery Sunday ;

The annual Cemetery Sunday, blessing of the graves will be  held on Sunday next 3 rd. August with Mass  at 12 Noon in the cemetery. Parking for the elderly and those with disability  will be available in the church car park,  Additional car parking will be available at McCabe’s Garage, Kells Road, Shekleton’s  yard, Rocks Road.

Marriage ;

Congratulations to  Mr. James Muldoon and  Ms. Ann  Marie Mooney, Ms. Shauneen Hale and Mr. Christopher O’Kane on their recent marriage. Couples intending marriage in the Diocese of Meath, must complete an ACCORD pre marriage  workshop.

Baptism ;

The Parish community welcomes  recently baptised ,Ronan Gerard  Finnegan. Baptisms take place on the 2 nd. and 4 th. Saturday of each month  at 4.00.pm in the Church of the Immaculate Conception , Kingscourt.

Died in Belfast ;

The death occurred on Friday of last week  in Belfast of Sadie Martin, predeceased by her husband Brian Martin, formerly of Corglass Kingscourt.

Bereaved ;

Sympathy is extended to Mrs. Claire Tinnelly, Corglass, Kingscourt, on the death of her mother;  Katherine (Kitty ) Crosbie, (nee Curran )  Coghalstown and Wilkenstown, Navan, peacefully at her home, Predeceased by her husband, James, sadly missed by her sons, daughters, grandchildren, great grandchildren, sons – in-law, daughters -in-law, sisters-in-law nephews and nieces , relatives and friends. Funeral on Monday last following requiem Mass in the Church of St. Louis and St. Mary’s , Rathkenny, with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Cancer Fund Thanks ;

Kingscourt Cancer fund sincerely thank  Patsy Smith  who raised € 735 from a charity cycle;

The deepest , Potholes ;

Motorists driving on the Drungill, Cormey- Coratober – Barley Hill , road  have to be more than alert  to  avoid some of the deepest pot holes on the aforementioned roads ,with the exception of  Cormey, all the roads are in the Meath County Council area. The Cormey road is in County Cavan. Many motorists  having to travel along these roads have damaged car wheels, busted tyres, some of the pot holes are up to 10 inches deep and in some cases difficult to avoid .
