Marriage ;
Congratulations to Ms. Ruth Clarke and Mr. Eamonn Sheridan, on their recent marriage on Saturday 21st February . Couples intending marriage in the Diocese of Meath, must complete an ACCORD pre marriage workshop.
Pancake Party ;
On Pancake Tuesday of last week parents, teachers and schoolchildren of Cabra Central school, Kingscourt, held a “Pancake Party” in the school to raise funds for Tallagh Children’s Hospital, att. photo’s of two groups of children who took part.
Lenten Novena,
On Ash Wednesday of last week , the guest speaker at the Annual Lenten Novena in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, was His Eminence, Cardinal Sean Brady, Archbishop Emeritus of Armagh. ( Photo) back, Rev. Fr. Gerry McCormack, P.P., Cardinal Sean Brady, with group of Altar Servers. Presentations were made to Cardinal Brady, by Johnny Gilmore of his book on the history of Kingscourt and Ann Burns on her book of prayers, “Pass it On”. On this Wednesday , 25 th. February the guest speaker will be Sr. Enda McMullan, Saint Louis Sister, on Wednesday the 4 th. March the speaker will be Most Reverend Michael Smith, Bishop of Meath.
Parish Mission ;
This year’s Parish Mission will be held from 21 st to 28 th March incl. it will be led by the Redemptorist Mission Team.
Charity Soup Lunch ;
On the remaining Friday’s of lent (excepting Good Friday) a charity lunch will be held in St. Ernan’s Hall from 12 Noon to 2.00.pm, in aid of St. Vincent de Paul and the Bishop’s Appeal, all support welcome.
Regretted Death ;
The death occurred of John (Johnnie) Rogers, Villa Court, Prosperous, Kildare and formerly of Birragh, Kingscourt, suddenly at his residence. Deeply regretted by his loving wife Marie, son , John ,daughter ; Lisa, grandchildren, sisters , mother-in-law, brothers -in-law, sisters-in-law, , nephews, nieces, relatives and a large circle of friends. Reposing at his home on Sunday, removal on Monday to the Church of Our Lady & St. Joseph, Prosperous for Requiem funeral Mass at 11.00am, with burial in Kingscourt cemetery, afterwards.
Baptisms ;
The parish community welcomes recently baptised, Ryan Ciaran Flood, Stephanie Hunt, and Abbie Kathleen Teelan. All baptisms are held in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Kingscourt at 4.00.pm on the 2 nd & 4 th Saturdays of each month.
World Day of Prayer ;
This year the service will take place in St. Ernan’s Church, Kingscourt on Friday 6 th. March at 7.30.pm.The speaker will be the Reverend Joyce Moore who works in St. Pater’s (Church of Ireland) parish in Drogheda. This lively service has been prepared by the Christian women of The Bahamas, in the Caribbean, it reflects their love of music and their culture. Everyone is welcome both men and women, boys and girls, come along and bring a friend.

Dog Litter Signs ;
New Dog Litter Sign’s, have been displayed in all areas of the town, whilst taking the dog for a walk is a healthy pastime for both the owner and the dog, dog owners are oblige to clean up dog litter after their dog, ( there is a fine of €150 ) for not cleaning up dog litter. There are many areas of the town’s footpaths with deposits of dog litter, which is highly dangerous especially for children, dog litter bags are not expensive and are available locally. Dog owners are not permitted to bring their dogs on visits to the local cemetery’s, football grounds and schools.
