Council Meeting ;

A meeting of Kingscourt Community Development, was held on Monday of last week, details of arrangements being made for this year’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade were discussed, which will be held on  Monday 17 th. March and will start as usual at 1.00.pmfrom the Dublin Road area.     Invitations have been sent to all Bands, Clubs, Organisations, schools, Businesses and industries encouraging them to take part . Music as always  very much part of the parade, there will be music sessions at various points around the town, before and during the parade. Competition’s will be held for the best dressed shop window, best float, club on parade or on float . 

Dun A Ri  Golf  Society ;

Dun A Ri  Golf Society is now open for Membership, their first outing of the year takes place in Delvin on Saturday 29 th. March. The competition will be a “scramble”   and is a team event. The club would to invite any “would be” golfer or Golfing enthusiast to come along and play and discover if this is something that you would like to get involved with. Tractor Stolen ;

During the past week a Tractor was stolen from a farmers residence in the Cortubber, Kingscourt area.

Drama Group  Presents ;

Dun -A- Ri  Drama Group are presenting 2  One- Act Comedies  in the Matt Talbot Hall, On Friday 21 and Saturday 22 nd February, starting at  8.30.pm  not to be missed, everyone welcome.

Sponsored Road Races ;

St. Joseph’s   N.S. Kingscourt are organising  a Road Race in Kingscourt on Sunday 23 rd. March. There are  three races, the longest is 20 km, it begins at 9.30.am while the 10 km starts at 9.45.am and the 6 km starts at 10.00.am. All races start and finish at the Market Square. Participants  can register online with precisiontiming.ie

Scrap  Saturday ;

The Scrap & Bagged Clothes Collection continues  on  Saturday   29 th. March at the Enterprise Centre from 11.00.am to1.00.pm, also in aid of St. Joseph’s  N.S.

Baptisms ;

The parish Community  welcomes  Noah  Kevin McEntee, and James  John Tully   who were recently baptised .  All baptisms take place on the 2 nd & 4 th. Saturdays of  each month , at 4.00.pm   in the Church of  the Immaculate Conception , Kingscourt .

Marriage ;

Congratulations to  Ms. Cathriona  McKenna and Mr. David Dolan, on their recent Marriage.  All couples intending marriage in the Diocese of Meath  must complete an  ACCORD pre marriage Workshop.  www.accord.ie

Autistic Children Thanks ;

Bright Stars for Autistic Children sincerely thank all who contributed to their recent collection which raised  € 880 .

Regretted Death ;

The death occurred on Saturday 8 th. February  at St. Vincent’s   Hospital Dublin of  Fintan McCabe,  Greenhills  Est, Ballina, Mayo and formerly of Tonaneave, Magheracloone, Carrickmacross. Deeply regretted  by his loving wife, Venessa, Parents; Brian and Philomena, brothers ; Dermott, Bernard, Shane ,and Eddie, sisters ; Helen , Rosemary (Rosie) Eugenia and Michelle.  A former employee of Gypsum Industries where he worked in the Engineering Dept, a member of a very musical family, he was an accomplished  accordion player.  Funeral on Tuesday of last week following Requiem Mass in St. Muredach’s Cathedral, Ballina, with burial in Leigue cemetery , Ballina.

Regretted Death ;

The death occurred peacefully at his residence, Barley  Hill, Kingscourt of  Noel Owens, on Wednesday 12 th. February. Removal on Thursday 13 th. Feb. to St. Patrick & St. Brigid’s Church, Meath Hill.  Requiem funeral Mass on Friday 14 th. February with burial in Kingscourt cemetery.  A former employee of Gypsum Industries where he was a lorry driver in the Transport Department  for many years.
