Charity Golf, Day;

Cabra Castle Golf Club will host a “Charity Day on Saturday 18 th. April. Ladies and Gents Singles Stableford. Prizes for  GUI  and non GUI members,  Timesheet in operation ,cal   087 2451994  . Entry fee € 15 and proceeds will go to Kingscourt Cancer Fund and St. Vincent De Paul.

Charity Soup Lunches Thanks ;

Kingscourt (Church of Ireland) would like to thank sincerely all those who supported their charity  soup lunches during lent.  They would like to thank all who came on Fridays, and all who prepared soup and served it.

A special word of thanks to Gemma in Supervalu for supplying rolls and brown bread, to Liz in Farm Fresh  for supplying some of the vegetables and to MirIam in Church Street Cafe for giving a loan of soup cauldrons, this was much appreciated. The amount raised was € 1,650  and this will be split between the local St. Vincent de Paul Society and The  Leprosy Mission “Good for the Sole” Project in India.

The Downey Family, Visit to Kingscourt

Relatives of the  Downey family are visiting Kingscourt on the weekend of May 30 th. and will visit the remains  of the old family home in Rathloghan, they now live in MA, in the Salem and Marblehead  areas.  Richard Downey, his daughter and his sister Mary Fran Coyne , are very excited about coming to Kingscourt and visiting the remains of the old family home in Rathloghan, and are anxious to meet any family members in the area.

The great- grandfather of Richard and Mary Fran was Matthew Downey ( 1845 to 1928) who emigrated to Marblehead , MA from Rathloghan  in 1879. Also his brother John emigrated and in the states married Rose Monaghan  from Rathloghan. Another brother  James stayed in Rathloghan and had 7 children, 4 boys and 3 girls. The parents of Matthew, John and James were James Downey (1820 to 1847 ) and Catherine Farrelly ( 1820 to 1875). The family have done a huge amount of research on their family tree.

Marriage ;

Congratulations to Ms. Nicola Smith and Mr. Colin Moore, Mr. Mark McGovern and Ms. Brigid Carolan also Mr. Marcin  Nowak  & Ms. Honorata  Bonias on their recent marriages. Couples intending marriage in the Diocese of Meath must complete an ACCORD pre marriage workshop.

Baptism ;

The parish community welcomes recently baptised  Jake Owen Burns.  All baptisms take place on the 2 nd & 4 th. Saturday of each month at in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Kingscourt.

St. Vincent De Paul, Thanks ;

Thanks to all who supported the  St. Vincent de Paul collection on Holy Thursday which raised € 749.
