World Day of Prayer, Service; 

World Day of Prayer SpeakerOn Friday 7 th. March , there was a good attendance present in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Kingscourt, at 7.30.pm, for a  World Day of Prayer Service . The attendance included, Rev. William Steacy, Rector, C.O.I and Rev. Fr. Gerry McCormack  P.P. and members from all the local denominations.  The service was led by  Ena McGinley, organists were, Ms.  Roberta  Steacy and Mr. Derek  Eakins . The speaker was Sr. Enda  McMullan , (Photo) ,St. Louis Convent, Carrickmacross, who spoke on “Streams in the Desert”, service prepared by the Christen Women of Egypt,  refreshments were served afterwards in the Parish Centre.

Regretted Death ;

The death occurred peacefully on Sunday 16 th February at Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown, of Brian McArdle, Clones Rd., Monaghan. The deceased who was in his 68 th. year was a former employee of  T & F Gilmore, Kingscourt, where he worked as a mechanic for many years.  Requiem  funeral Mass was held on Wednesday  19 th. February in St. McCartan’s  Cathedral  Monaghan. He is survived by his  wife, Mary, sons ; Alan , Ian , and Owen, daughter ; Breena, brothers and sisters, mother-in -law, relatives and friends to whom sympathy is extended.

Lenten Novena, Speakers ;

The speaker at the Lenten Novena on this   Wednesday 12 th. March in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, will be Elma Walsh , mother of Donal Walsh, R.I.P.  Kerry. The speaker on Wednesday 19 th March will be Fr. Janusz Lugowski  (Polish Chaplin)

St. Patrick’s Day Parade ;

With all arrangements now in place for this year’s St. Patrick’s  Day Parade which is being held on Monday 17 th. March, bunting and flags have been erected crossing the towns wide main street. The parade will be streamed live on www.themarketsquare.ie all over the world  it will start at  1.00.pm from the Mt. St. Joseph’s area on the Navan  Rd.  A flag raising ceremony will be held earlier at 12.30.pm in the centre of the town .  All industrial  and business floats , clubs and organisations and others participating,  should assemble at 12.Noon in the Mt. St. Joseph’s area , so that they can be allocated positions in the parade, Late entries will be positioned at the rear of the parade. With this year’s parade being covered by  RTE ,TV  it important that every effort is made to be on time .  There will be  some parking restrictions   in areas along the parade route, parking will be available in other areas of the town, Kells Rd. Bailieborough Rd, Shercock Rd.,  Carrickmacross Rd., The  “Theme for this year’s Best Dressed Shop Window” is the Roaring Nineties”    There will also be prizes for the best industrial or business float, club /organisation on foot or float. Traders and residents are also encouraged to display a flag on the day of the parade. The parade has a long  tradition of being the largest in the North East region and attracts a lot of visitors from all the surrounding areas, it is organised each year by Kingscourt Community Development , who are most thankful  for all the financial  support they receive each year from industrial and businesses in the area.

Additional Evening Masses;

Additional masses during lent are on Tuesday at 7.30.pm in  St. Joseph’s  Church, Corlea ,  and on Thursday at 7.30.pm in Muff  Church .

Lenten Lunch ;

Lenten Lunch on each Friday in St. Ernan’s  Hall from 12 Noon in aid of St. Vincent de Paul and the Bishop’s Appeal.

St. Joseph’s NS, Roof Repairs ;

St. Joseph’s National School are fundraising for repairs to the roof of their school, On Sunday 23 rd. March they are holding a number of  road races , ie. 20 km, 10 km and 5 km  beginning at 9.30  am. Participants can register  on-line withprecisiontiming.ie

They are also  have a “Scrap Saturday” which takes every  second Saturday , scrap and clothes are e collected at the enterprise centre off the Kells road on 15  th & 29 th. March & 11 th. April from 11.00.am to 1.00.pm  

Bridge ;

Blood Donors,  Thanks ;

Thanks,  to all the donors who attended the recent Blood Donor Clinic in Kingscourt Community Centre, a total of 114 donors came to donate. A breakdown of the figures show that  12 first time donors and 10 former donors attended the clinic .

Active Retirement AGM ;

Kingscourt  Active Retirement will hold their  AGM  on Friday  14 th. March at 8.pm in the Parish Centre, new members welcome.

Garden Club AGM.

Kingscourt Garden Club will hold their  AGM in Blakes  on Wednesday  at  8.45.pm new members welcome.
