Further Progress on Second Level School for Kingscourt

Clifford Kelly chairman of Kingscourt Community Development Association is delighted with the news that The Department of Education and Skills have confirmed that the patronage of Cavan – Monaghan Education and Training Board (the new body comprising of Counties Cavan and Monaghan VECs).

Clifford Kelly was instrumental in the campaign for a new school in Kingscourt during his time as Chairperson of Co. Cavan VEC.  Kingscourt Community Development Association has fully supported the campaign for a Second Level School in Kingscourt for the past thirty years.

Clifford Kelly and others working along with the CEO and Officials from the Cavan – Monaghan Education and Training Board have engaged in detailed work meeting with the principals of 13 local primary schools and the Managers of 5 Crèches/Playgroups in relation to the development of the new school. Clifford would like to stress the importance of this Development for the young children of Kingscourt and surrounding area, and for the wider community and also in particular for the business people of Kingscourt which this will make a huge difference to the commercial life of Kingscourt.

Clifford would like to especially highlight the vital role of Mr Martin O’Brien, CEO, Cavan – Monaghan Education and training Board, in the continued advancement of this project through his work with the Department of Education is securing the patronage of the Kingscourt School and also his engagement with Department Officials on all aspects of the project. He also acknowledges the continued support of the wider community over the years for this project.

This will allow Chief Executive Mr.Martin O’Brien, CEO, Cavan – Monaghan Education and Training Board to appoint consultants to prepare detailed drawings for the building of the new School and this is really to be welcomed.
